Breaking of Bread

Breaking of BreadIn our Breaking of Bread meeting we consider the great gift of salvation. Like every gift it cost the Giver, but the recipient enjoys it for free. On the cross, the Lord Jesus willingly paid the ultimate price for our salvation. We receive this incredible gift when we by faith accept Him as our personal Saviour. As we sit together we meditate on the love of God, the horror of the cross and our position as saved in Christ. There is no formal order of service. There are moments of quiet contemplation interspersed with the singing of hymns, prayer and the reading of Bible passages. We break bread and drink wine in remembrance of the Lord Jesus as He commanded us to do (Luke 22:19).

Family Service

Family ServiceOur Family Service divides into worship and Bible Teaching. The first 30 minutes are spent singing hymns and songs in praise and worship of God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. The singing is accompanied by piano or backing tracks and the words are projected onto a screen. The person responsible for leading will have chosen the songs during the week and there is usually a theme which runs through the selection. For the next 30 minutes children move out to Sunday School, where they enjoy age appropriate Bible teaching and activities, while the adults listen to a message based on a Bible passage or subject (All Sunday School teachers are fully compliant with the latest child protection legislation). The speakers are men from Bethany Church and invited guests. The message is always Bible based and will usually bring a challenge for Holy living as well as a reminder of the grace and love of God The Father and the Lord Jesus Christ

Bible Study & Prayer Meeting

Bible StudyEvery Tuesday we spend about 45 minutes studying the Bible and another 45 minutes in prayer. The Bible study is led by one of the men from Bethany but is conversational in which discussion and questions are encouraged. A topic, passage or book might be studied for one evening or over several weeks. We seek to know the Lord and His teaching more so that we might walk closer to Him. In prayer we follow the Lord Jesus' example in bringing praise, thanks and our requests before a loving and caring God.

While He was in Bethany, reclining at the table in the home of Simon the Leper, a woman came with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, made of pure nard. She broke the jar and poured the perfume on His head. -Matthew 26:6-7
